(ORAL) The contempt petition is filed for non-compliance of the order dated 17.02.2018 vide which a direction was issued to decide the grievances unfolded by the petitioner in legal notice in view of judgment of Full Bench of this Court in A.S.Randhawa vs State of Punjab and others, 1997(3) SCT 468 as well as judgment of this Court in CWP No.8772 of 2015 (Charan Dass vs State of Punjab and others) decided on 11.07.2017. Reply has been filed. As per the reply, the matter was considered and a speaking order dated 31.05.2018 has been passed vide which claim of the petitioner has been partly accepted. The details of the amount which has been paid to the petitioner has been mentioned in para 2 of the reply.

COCP-1733-2018 (O&M) -2In this view of the matter, no useful purpose would be served in continuing with the contempt petition. The same is hereby dismissed. The rule issued against the respondent(s) stands discharged. However, in case the petitioner is still aggrieved by the passing of the speaking order dated 31.05.2018 in any manner, he is at liberty to challenge the same in accordance with law.
