The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondents No. 2 and 3 to decide his application seeking passport.

The petitioner vide application dated 19.09.2023 applied for passport. The petitioner was convicted in FIR No. 15 dated 16.12.2008, under Section 13(2) read with Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, registered at Police Station Vigilance Bureau, Bathinda Range, Bathinda. The petitioner was awarded sentence of four years. The petitioner preferred CRA-S-1476-SB of 2011 which is still pending. Counsel for the petitioner submits that case of the petitioner is squarely covered by judgment of this Court in Mohan Lal @ Mohna vs. Union of India and others 2023 SCC Online P&H 1391. 4.
Ms. Monica Chawla, Central Government Counsel for Union of India, who an advance notice is present in Court, asserts that application of the petitioner would be considered and disposed of expeditiously. 5.
In the wake of statement of counsel for Union of India, the petition stands disposed of. Passport authority shall decide application of the petitioner within four weeks from today.
