JASWANT SINGH, J (ORAL) The petitioner, who was appointed as Tehsil Welfare Officer vide order dated 21.3.1989 (P.1) for 89 days in the pay scale of Rs.1500-2640/-, on temporary basis, had prayed for regularization of his services and this Court while disposing of the writ petition bearing CWP No.20932 of 2014 directed respondent No.1 to take a decision on the regularization of the service of the petitioner within a period of 3 months from the receipt of the certified copy of the order, after taking appropriate extension from the Department of Personal.

For non-compliance of the order aforesaid, the petitioner has preferred this contempt petition. Upon notice, an affidavit of the Principal Secretary, Department of Welfare of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, Punjab filed on the last date of hearing stating that the file

COCP No.2373 of 2016 #2# was pending before the Hon'ble Welfare Minister and sent to him on 23.12.2016.

At the time of hearing today, learned counsel for the petitioner points that the necessary claim has since been granted to the petitioner thereby rendering the present petition infructuous.

In view of the above, present contempt petition is dismissed as having become infructuous and the rule is discharged.
