in/and CRM-M-1208-2021 -2- & other connected case ***** CRM-M-1208-2021 CRM-M-41832-2021 These two petitions have been filed under Section 439 Cr.P.C. for grant of regular bail to the petitioners in case F.I.R. No.187 dated 30th of August, 2019 registered at Police Station Lambi, District Sri Muktsar Sahib.

Petitioner-Gurlal Singh has been booked for the offence punishable under Section 22 of the NDPS Act, 1985 and under Section 61 of the Punjab Excise Act, 1914 whereas petitioner-Cheena Singh has been booked under Section 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act. It has been brought to the notice of the Court that the Trial is in the midst and the petitioners are behind bars for last more than two years. Keeping in view the nature of the allegations levelled against the petitioners and the time they have been in custody, the Court is of the considered opinion that the petitioners have right to speedy trial. Recognizing the same, the Trial Court is directed to expedite the trial and conclude the same within a period of six months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.

Petitions stand disposed off accordingly.
