Present petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for directing respondent No.2, i.e. Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate, Jalandhar, to decide the parole case of the petitioner expeditously and within a reasonable period of time in view of the law laid down by a Division Bench of this Court in Varun @ Gullu vs State of Haryana and others passed in CRM-M-34013-2009 on 26.04.2010.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has been convicted in FIR No.7, dated 08.01.2006 under Sections 489-A, 489-B, 489-C, 489-D, and 420 IPC, registered at Police Station Phillaur, vide judgment dated 01.10.2010 and sentenced to undergo RI for a period of 7 years by learned Additional Sessions Judge Jalandhar. Appeal filed by the petitioner, i.e CRA-S-2787-SB-2010, has already been dismissed by this Hon'ble Court vide order dated 23.01.2014. CRWP-242-2025 -2petitioner applied for grant of parole to the Jail Superintendent, Central Jail, Kapurthala, on 30.08.2024, which was forwarded to respondent No.2, i.e. Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate, District Jalandhar, vide letter dated 03.09.2024, but the same has not been decided till date. 3.

On the asking of the Court, Mr.Tarun Aggarwal, Sr.DAG, Punjab, who is present in Court, accepts notice on behalf of the respondents/State.

After hearing learned counsel for the parties and going through the facts and circumstances of the case, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2, i.e. Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate, District Jalandhar, to decide the representation (Annexure P-3) of the petitioner within a period of two weeks from today in accordance with law.
