The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondent No. 2 to decide application seeking passport.

Counsel for the petitioner submits that petitioner submitted application on 20.06.2023 seeking passport in the office of Respondent No.

2. Vide representation dated 11.12.2023, the petitioner sought status of his application. A period of almost more than two months has elapsed still respondent has not issued passport.

Ms. Sehej Sandhawalia, Central Government Counsel for Union of India, who on advance notice is present in Court, accepts notice and waives service. She submits that application of the petitioner is under active consideration and it could not be finally adjudicated due to defective police verification report received from concerned quarter. Nevertheless, the application of the petitioner would be disposed of within six weeks from today.
