(ORAL) Though the present writ petition has been filed challenging the validity of Rule 14 (A) (iii), C (2) of the Punjab Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Counselling and Rehabilitation Centres (First Amendment) Rules, 2020, notified on 28.08.2020, learned senior counsel appearing for the petitioners, after arguing at length, submits that their representation (Annexure P-6) against the proposed amendment is pending before the respondent-authorities, which may be directed to be considered and decided by them.
Mr. Avinit Avasthi, learned Assistant Advocate General, Punjab submits that the respondent-authorities shall consider and decide the petitioners' representation (Annexure P-6) by passing a reasoned order as far as possible by 15.02.2022.
In view of the aforesaid statement made by learned State counsel, we do not find any reason to entertain the present writ petition which is accordingly disposed of. It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the case and, therefore, the authorities would be at liberty to examine the matter keeping all facts and facets into consideration and decide the same in accordance with law.
