On the asking of the Court, Mr. Vikas Mohan Gupta, Addl.A.G., Punjab, present in court, accepts notice. Petitioners allege violation of order dated 17.07.2017, passed by the writ court. Operative part thereof reads as under:- "Having heard counsel for the petitioners at length and without expressing any opinion on merits of the case, raised in the petition, I deem it appropriate to dispose of the instant petition with a direction to respondent No.3 i.e. Secretary, Public Works Department (B&R Branch) to consider the grievance set forth by the petitioners and to take a final decision on a legal notice dated 07.06.2017 at Annexure P-6 expeditiously and in any case within a period of four months from the passing of this order."
Present petition is disposed of with a direction that, in case, legal notice submitted by the petitioners is still pending, decision thereon be taken at the earliest, in any case, not later than one month. In case, any fresh cause of action accrues to the petitioners to invoke contempt jurisdiction of this court, apart from initiating proceedings under the Act, it shall consider imposition of punitive costs, which shall be deducted from the salary of the officials responsible for delay/non-compliance. Disposed of.
