Avneet Kaur,petitioner no.1 and Gurpreet Singh,petitioner no.2 are stated to have solemnized marriage on 21.2.2018 according to Hindu rites and against the wishes of parents of the girl. They filed CRM-M 8000/2018 seeking protection of their life and liberty due to they apprehending threat from the family members of the girl. The said petition was disposed of vide order dated 23.2.2018 by this Court directing SSP Kapurthala to look into the representation of the couple dated 21.2.2018. Present contempt has been filed alleging that the police authorities have threatened the family members of the boy inspite of the girl and the boy being major in age and the girl having performed the marriage of her own volition.
Upon notice, ASI Jagga Singh has put in appearance. He states that a complaint dated 22.2.2018 was lodged by the father of the girl against the boy. However, upon an inquiry, as also receipt of the order dated Rajinder Parshad Joshi 2018.03.01 16:37 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document
COCP 720/2018 23.2.2018, the same has been recommended to be closed. It is also stated that as and when the couple approaches the police on account of some tangible threat, due action shall be taken.
At the time of hearing documents have been produced and also examined by ASI Jagga Singh whereby it is shown that the date of birth of the girl is 20.2.2000 and thus, had attained the age of majority of 18 years on 20.2.2018. She also states that she has of her own volition left her paternal home. In view of the stand of respondent/police authorities no further adjudication is required.
Dismissed as infructuous.
