The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of Constitution of India is seeking directions to the respondents to allow him to join service of Punjab Police as Constable. 2.

The petitioner pursuant to advertisement dated 31.05.2016 applied for the post of Constable. The petitioner was selected, however, during verification of documents, it was found that date of birth of the petitioner recorded in matriculation certificate is 10.02.1998 whereas as per petitioner, it is 10.02.1997. The petitioner approached Punjab School Education Board to carry out necessary correction in the certificate. The Board corrected certificate on 21.05.2018. The petitioner served upon respondents legal notice on 04.12.2023.

In the wake of statement of learned State counsel, the petition stands disposed of.

The petitioner participated in advertisement of May' 2016 and PSEB carried out necessary amendment in his matriculation certificate on 21.05.2018 and the petitioner has approached this Court in January, 2024. 6.

It is made clear that the disposal of present petition shall not be treated as expression of opinion of this Court on the question of delay and laches on the part of the petitioner.
