(Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking protection of their life and liberty on the premise that petitioner No.2 has performed marriage with petitioner No.1 against the wishes of her parents and other family members and the petitioners are apprehending threat to their life and liberty at their instance. Notice of motion.

Mr. M.S. Nagra, AAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of the respondent - State while Mr. H.P.S. Ghuman, Advocate and Mr. J.S. Chahal, Advocate has appeared on behalf of respondents No.4 and 5. Since the parents of petitioner No.2 have appeared in the Court, the matter was referred to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre of this Court for exploring the possibility of some amicable settlement. The Mediator has recorded the statement of both the petitioners as well as parents of petitioner No.2. CRM-M No.1169 of 2019 In view of the settlement arrived at between the parties, counsel for the petitioners submits that this petition may be disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 to look into the grievance of the petitioners regarding threat to their life and liberty, if any. Without examining the question of validity or otherwise of marriage of the petitioners, the present petition stands disposed of with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, Fatehgarh Sahib to look into grievance of the petitioners regarding threat to their life and liberty and take appropriate action, if any, warranted in the circumstances.
