The petitioners pray for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus to direct the respondents to step up their pay at par with their juniors.

On the request of the Court, Mr. Nikhil Chopra, Additional Advocate General, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of the respondent No.1 to 3 and submits that the Punjab Government has constituted a Multi Member Committee, consisting of the senior officers of the department along with a Deputy Advocate General, Punjab. He submits that given an opportunity, the Committee would like to consider the request of the petitioners. The learned counsel representing the petitioners is not averse to the aforesaid suggestion of the learned State counsel. In view of the aforesaid facts, the writ petition is disposed of

Civil Writ Petition No. 2581 of 2022 with a request to the concerned Committee to consider the request of the petitioners and pass a speaking order, within a period of three months, from today. The petitioners are directed to submit fresh representations along with the supported documents to the Committee, within a period of one week. Needless to observe that the Committee will consider the case of the petitioners, independently and this Court has not expressed any opinion on the merits of the case.
