By way of present petition under Article 226/227 of Constitution of India, a prayer has been made for issuance of direction to respondent No.2 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner at the instance of respondents No.4 to 6 and her family members with a further prayer directing respondent No.2 to get the investigation of the present case conducted from some independent agency. 2.
At the outset, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that instead of pressing the present petition on merits, his client would be satisfied in case direction is issued to the respondents to decide the representation (Annexure P-4) moved at the instance of petitioner by passing a speaking order expeditiously. Learned counsel further submits that the petitioner undertakes to appear before the concerned Police official i.e. SHO Palwinder Singh on 22.01.2024 at 11:00 am for the purpose of getting her statement recorded. 3.
Prayer seems to be justified.

Upon advance notice, Mr. Shubham Kaushik, A.A.G., Punjab appears on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3 and raises no objection to the innocuous prayer made on behalf of the petitioner. 5.
In view of the agreed stand taken by both sides, but without going into the merits of the controversy, the present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Kapurthala to look into the representation (Annexure P-4) and take appropriate action in accordance with law by passing a speaking order preferably within a period of 04 (four) weeks from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order.

The aforesaid direction shall not be treated as an expression of opinion on the merits of the averments made in the representation.
