The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to re-issue his passport. 2.
The petitioner was issued passport on 26.12.2011 which expired on 25.12.2021. The petitioner applied for re-issuance of passport on 12.08.2022. An FIR No.73 dated 07.06.2019, under Sections 323, 324, 506 and 34 of IPC was registered against the petitioner at Police Station Matour, District SAS Nagar.

Learned counsel for the petitioner inter alia contends that the petitioner vide application dated 12.08.2022 applied for re-issuance of passport. Mr. Aman Dhir, DAG, Punjab, confirms the aforestated statement made by counsel for the petitioner. 5.
Faced with this, Ms. Neha Sharma, Senior Panel Counsel states that case of the petitioner has already been closed and he is at liberty to file a fresh application. If the petitioner files a fresh application, the passport authority would decide his application, in accordance with law. 6.
Counsel for the petitioner agrees with the aforesaid arrangement.
