The instant petition has been filed under Section 438 Cr.P.C. for grant of anticipatory bail to the petitioner in case FIR No.420 dated 29.12.2019 registered under Sections 406, 498A IPC at Police Station Sohana, SAS Nagar, Mohali.

Counsel for the petitioner would contend that the matter was referred to the Mediation and Conciliation Centre of this Court vide order dated 21.01.2020, consequent to which, the matter was stands settled by a settlement agreement dated 19.02.2020. As per the said agreement, parties have decided to reside separately and also filed an application under Section 13-B of the Hindu Marriage Act. The petitioner herein is to pay an amount of Rs.12 lakhs to the complainant-wife in lieu of permanent alimony and maintenance.

In view of the settlement arrived at between the parties, this Court deems it appropriate to dispose of the instant petition and the same is ordered accordingly.
