Through this criminal writ petition, the petitioner prays for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus to direct the respondents to release her husband, namely Jaswinder Sindh Dosanjh, on emergency parole for a period of two weeks.

The petitioner, through her counsel, claims that her husband was convicted by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of judicature, Court of Appeal (Criminal Division), London, while sentencing him to a minimum term of 21 years. It has also been asserted that the petitioner's husband is confined in prison, either at London or Ferozepur for quite some time. 3.

The emergency parole has been sought on the ground that the petitioner's father-in-law has died on 19.01.2022 and the presence of her husband (Jaswinder Singh Dosanjh), who is the only son of the deceased, is DEEPAK KUMAR BHARDWAJ 2022.01.21 17:01 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document required to perform the last rites.

On 19.01.2022, the learned counsel representing the State of Punjab was requested to get the complete instructions. 5.

Mr. Sullar has pointed out that the facts stated in the petition are correct and the cremation is to be performed on 23.01.2022 and the last rites shall be performed subsequently. The petitioner's husband is stated to be, presently, confined in the Central Jail at Ferozepur. 6.

Keeping in view the aforesaid facts, the Jail Superintendent is directed to make arrangements to take the petitioner's husband in a police vehicle to his native place to enable Jaswinder Singh Dosanjh (the petitioner's husband) to attend the cremation on 23.01.2022 and the last rites (date to be intimated subsequently) of his father. 7.

The Jail Superintendent is directed to ensure the safety of Jaswinder Singh Dosanjh and the general public, while facilitating him to attend and participate in the cremation and the last rites of his father in accordance with the religious customs.
