RAMENDRA JAIN, J. (ORAL) Through instant petition under Section 439 Cr.P.C. prayer has been made for grant of regular bail to the petitioner in a case arising from FIR No.260 dated 21.05.2018 registered under Section 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 at Police Station SGM Nagar, Faridabad, Haryana.
Briefly, petitioner is facing trial in the aforesaid FIR for having conscious possession of 26 packets containing 25 kgs 660 grams of "ganja". Learned counsel for the petitioner inter alia contends that petitioner is in custody since 21.05.2018. Conclusion of trial may take a sufficient long time. No useful purpose would be served by detaining the petitioner any more in jail.
On the other hand, learned State counsel vehemently opposed the grant of regular bail to the petitioner.
