Present criminal writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of direction to the respondents No.1 to 3 so as to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners.

Mr. Shubham Kaushik, A.A.G., Punjab accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3.

Petitioner No.1-Arshdeep Singh aged about 21 years and petitioner No.2-Khushpreet Kaur aged about 17 years and 7 months are stated to be in a live-in-relationship against the wishes of respondents No.4 to 7.

Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and while refraining from making any expression as regards the veracity of the averments made in the petition, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Senior Superintendent of Police, Bathinda TEJWINDER SINGH 2024.01.25 09:42 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

2024:PHHC:009740 -2CRWP-712-2024 to get representation dated 09.01.2024 (Annexure P-3) examined as regards the alleged threat perception of the petitioners and to take necessary action as may be warranted under the facts and circumstances of the case.

Accordingly, the Criminal Writ Petition stands disposed of in the aforesaid manner. A copy of this order along with copy of the representation dated 09.01.2024 be sent to Senior Superintendent of Police, Bathinda (respondent No.2) so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously.

It is, however, clarified that this order shall not debar the State from proceedings against the petitioners, if involved in any other case.
