Petitioners allege that both of them are major and they got married on 20.1.2022 against the wishes of respondent Nos.4 to 8 who are related to petitioner No.1. This is their first marriage. Counsel for the petitioners submits that the aforesaid private respondents have threatened to cause harm to both the petitioners and in this regard, representation (Annexure P-4) was given on 20.1.2022 to respondent No.2 but till date no action has been taken by the concerned authority in this regard.

Mr. R.S. Khaira, AAG, accepts notice on behalf of the State of Punjab. He submits that the concerned authority will look into the matter and take decision on the representation of the petitioners in accordance with law. In view of above, without going into merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with direction to respondent No.2 to consider representation dated 20.1.2022 (Annexure P-4) and to provide appropriate protection to the petitioners if so warranted. However, any observations made in this order will not be construed as an expression of opinion on the validity of the marriage of the petitioners.
At this stage, Mr. Karandeep Singh, Advocate puts in appearance on behalf of private respondents No.4 to 8 and has requested to mark his presence for the aforesaid private respondents. Ordered accordingly.
