MANJARI NEHRU KAUL, J. (Oral) The instant petition has been filed for issuance of direction to respondents No. 2 and 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners from the hands of private respondents.

Reply by way of an affidavit of Sukhpal Singh, PPS, DSP, City, District Gurdaspur, has been filed on behalf of respondents No. 1 to 3. As per the reply, statement of the father of petitioner No.2 has been recorded wherein the father has submitted that he has no objection to the marriage stated to have been solemnized between the petitioners. However, the learned counsel for the petitioners submits that the petitioners still apprehend threat to their life and liberty at the hands of respondents No. 5 and 6. CRWP-852-2021 (O&M) [ 2 ] if a direction is issued to the respondents for taking a decision on their representation (Annexure P-3).

Keeping in view the limited prayer addressed by the petitioners, this petition is disposed of with a direction to the Senior Superintendent of Police, District Gurdaspur (respondent No.2) to look into the representation dated 17.01.2021 (Annexure P3) submitted by the petitioners and take appropriate action keeping in view the alleged threat perception, if any. It is, however, made clear that this order shall have no effect on the validity of the alleged marriage of the petitioners and neither will any other civil or criminal proceedings initiated against the petitioners be barred due to this order.
