Petitioners allege that both of them are major and they got married on 08.01.2024 against the wishes of respondents No.4 to 7 who are related to petitioner No.1. This is their first marriage. 2.
Counsel for the petitioners submits that aforesaid private respondents No.4 to 7 have threatened to cause harm to both the petitioners and in this regard, representation dated 08.01.2024 (Annexure P-5) was given to Senior Superintendent of Police, Sector-9, Chandigarh but till date no action has been taken by the concerned authority in this regard.

The counsel for the petitioners further submits that the petitioners will be satisfied if necessary direction be given to respondent No.2 to look into the matter and decide aforesaid representation in a time bound manner.

In light of the above, without going into the merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with direction to respondent No.2 i.e. Senior Superintendent of Police, Sector-9, Chandigarh to consider Priyanka Thakur 2024.01.22 14:23 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document and decide representation dated 08.01.2024 (Annexure P-5) of the
petitioners in accordance with law, within a period of two months of the receipt of certified copy of this order and to take action if so warranted in accordance with law.

However, any observations made in this order will not be construed as an expression of opinion on the validity of the marriage of the petitioners. In case the petitioners have committed any offence, law will take its own course.
