The petitioners seek issuance of directions to the official respondents to protect their lives and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of private respondents No.4 to 7.

Learned counsel for the petitioners submitted that petitioners' son namely Pratham Chopra has solemnized marriage with daughter of respondent No.4 - Rishi Kapoor, which somehow is not acceptable to respondent No.4 and other members of her family i.e. respondents No.5 to 7, who have been issuing threats to the petitioners as well as to their son to cause harm to them. Having heard learned counsel for the petitioners and without commenting anything as regards merits of the case or as regards veracity of averments made in the petition, the instant petition is disposed off with a direction to respondent No.2 - Senior Superintendent of Police, Fatehgarh Sahib to look into the matter and to get the representation dated 19.1.2024 (Annexure P-2) examined qua the alleged threat perception of the petitioners. In case, it is found that there is any gunine threat to the life and liberty of the petitioners, then necessary steps as may be warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners in any manner.
