MANJARI NEHRU KAUL , J. (ORAL) Petitioner is seeking issuance of directions to the official respondents to protect the life and liberty of the petitioner, who apprehend threat to his life at the hands of private respondents. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that a complaint was sent on 16.09.2023 (Annexure P-8) followed by another complaint on 01.01.2024 (Annexure P-3) through e-mail to the police authorities, however, it had failed to yield any response. It has been submitted that the official respondents were under a legal obligation to pass an appropriate order on his complaint.

Learned counsel for the petitioner restricts her prayer for issuance of directions to respondent No.1-Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh, to look into the complaint dated 16.09.2023 (Annexure P-8) of the petitioner and take appropriate steps in accordance with law.

On asking of the Court, Mr. Manish Bansal, Public Prosecutor, U.T. Chandigarh, assisted by Mr. Ankush Singla, Advocate, accepts notice on behalf of the official respondents. 6.

In the wake of the limited prayer of the petitioner, the instant petition is disposed of and respondent No.1Senior Superintendent of Police, Chandigarh, is directed to look into the grievance of the petitioner and take appropriate steps, if any required, under the provisions of law. However, if respondent No.1 does not find any substance in the allegations levelled in the complaint dated 16.09.2023 (Annexure P-8), then the petitioner shall be duly informed as per the parameters laid down by the Supreme Court in Lalita Kumari v. Government of Uttar Pradesh & Ors. 2013 (4) RCR (Criminal) 979.
