The present writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India is for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents No.1 to 3 to protect the life and personal liberty of the petitioners by providing police protection to the petitioners. Further respondent No.2 be directed not to harass the petitioners illegally at the behest of respondents No.4 to 7 and not to register any case against the petitioners.

Learned counsel for the petitioners, inter alia, contends that the petitioners' son, Sharanjit Singh, aged 23 years, ran away with one Suneha, daughter of Vijay Kumar, on 06.01.2025, without informing their families and since then, both families have been trying to locate the couple, but the petitioners have faced continuous harassment and threats from the girl's family and local police, who are attempting to implicate them in false cases. CRWP-675-2025 police officials raided the petitioners' home, defaming them and disrupting their daily lives. The petitioners have received telephonic threats, and despite filing a representation with authorities on 20.01.2025, no action has been taken.

Learned counsel for the petitioners further submits that the petitioners would be satisfied, in case a direction is issued to respondent No.2 to consider and decide the representation dated 20.01.2025 (Annexure P-3) submitted by them in a time bound manner. 4.

Notice of motion to the official respondents only. 5.

On asking of the Court, Mr. Sandeep Kumar, DAG, Punjab, accepts notice on behalf of respondents No.1 to 3-State. Learned counsel for the petitioners is directed to supply copy of complete paperbook to learned State counsel during the course of the day. 6.

Keeping in view the prayer made by the petitioners and without commenting anything on the merits of the case, present petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 to consider and decide the representation dated 20.01.2025 (Annexure P-3) submitted by the petitioners within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order, in accordance with law.
