On 29.01.2024, the following order was passed by this Court:- "The petitioners through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India are seeking direction to respondents to re-issue him passport.

Counsel for the petitioners inter alia contends that this Court vide order dated 06.12.2023 after noticing the fact that this Court has stayed proceedings arising out of FIR No. 37 dated 22.04.2016, under Sections 406 and 498-A of IPC, registered at Police Station, Nurpurbedi, District Rupnagar, directed the petitioners to appear before passport authority on 15.12.2023 alongwith requisite documents. The petitioners appeared before passport authority, however, vide communication dated 01.01.2024, the said authority PARAMJIT KAUR SAINI 2024.03.12 05:37 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

has directed the petitioners to get permission from trial court.

Mr. Aman Dhir, DAG, Punjab, confirms that trial arising out of aforesaid FIR has been stayed by this Court vide order dated 15.12.2018 passed in CRM-42685 of 2018 in CRM-M-13648 of 2017. 3.

Faced with this, Ms. Neha Sharma, Advocate, submits that passport authority would consider case of the petitioners in the light of various instructions issued by Central Government and pass an appropriate order.
