Counsel for the petitioners inter alia submits that petitioner No.1 an unmarried female aged about 20 years has performed marriage with petitioner No.2 a divorcee aged about 27 years on 02.01.2025 against the wishes of respondents No.4 to 6, who are related to petitioner No.1. The said private respondents have threatened to cause harm to the petitioners and in this regard, petitioners have given their representation dated 21.01.2025 (Annexure P-5) to the police authorities to safeguard their lives and liberty from the hands of private respondents but the police authorities have failed to take any action in this regard. 2.

In view of above, without going into the merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with direction to respondent No.2 i.e. Superintendent of Police, Sirsa to consider and decide representation dated 21.01.2025 (Annexure P-5) submitted by the petitioners in accordance with law within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a certified copy of this order..

However, any observations made in this order will not be construed as an expression of opinion on the validity of the marriage of the petitioners. In case the petitioners have committed any offence, law will take its own course.
