SUVIR SEHGAL, J. (Oral) The Court has been convened through video conferencing due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Instant petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of habeas corpus for the release of the detenue, Karamjeet Kaur, wife of the petitioner from the illegal custody of respondents No.4 and 5. Upon notice having been issued by this Court, the State has filed reply by way of affidavit dated 27.02.2021 of Deputy Superintendent of Police, City-1, Patiala on behalf of respondents No.1 and 2 wherein it has been deposed that upon visiting the place where the alleged detenue is stated to be kept in illegal detention, her statement was recorded. CRWP No.1119 of 2021 {2} her family and after sometime, the petitioner started beating her, therefore, she came back to her parental house and she does not want to go back to the petitioner and wants to take divorce from him. The statement was recorded in the presence of the Sarpanch of the village Langroi, Police Station Passiana, District Patiala. Thereafter, the official respondents again got her statement recorded in the presence of the Tehsildar Patiala which was also to the same effect.

In these circumstances, no further direction is required to be issued. The petition stands disposed of.
