On 31.01.2024, the following order was passed by this Court:- "The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondents No. 1 and 2 to re-issue him passport. The petitioner was issued passport on 03.08.2009 which expired on 02.08.2019. The petitioner was involved in a cross case vide GD No. 28 dated 12.07.2020, under Sections 452, 326, 323, 506, 148, 149 of IPC, registered at Police Station, Sirhali, District Tarn Taran in FIR No. 209 dated 08.07.2020.

Mr. Yash Pal Sharma, Advocate, submits that petitioner was issued show cause notice dated 13.04.2023, however, he has not responded to the same, thus, matter could not be resolved. He may be directed to appear before passport authority alongwith reply to said show cause notice whereupon competent authority would adjudicate his application expeditiously.

Learned counsel for the petitioner agrees to the aforesaid arrangement.

In the wake of statements of both sides, the petition stands disposed of with a direction to petitioner to appear before the passport authority on 08.04.2024 at 11.00 a.m. alongwith reply to show cause notice. On doing so, the passport authority would pass an appropriate order within six weeks from 08.04.2024.
