By way of present revision petition, petitioner - Mr. Harjinder Singh, challenged the order dated 21.12.2016 (P-8), vide which, recounting of votes have been ordered by the Presiding Officer-Election Tribunal-cum-SDM, Nabha, in an election petition filed under Section 76 of the Punjab State Election Commission Act, 1994, r/w Rule 50 of the Punjab Panchayat Rules, 1994. 2.
Considering the aspect that the dispute pertains to the election of Sarpanch, which was held in 2013, for the term of five years, counsel for the petitioner submits that with the efflux of time, no force is left now in the submissions, which were then available with the petitioner. Therefore, present revision petition has been rendered infructuous, and be disposed of as such. 3.
Accordingly, on the basis of statement made by counsel for the petitioner in Court today, present revision petition stands disposed of as having been rendered infructuous.
