Sh. Rana Harjasdeep Singh, DAG, Punjab accepts notice on behalf of respondent-State of Punjab.

For the reasons recorded in the application, which is supported by an affidavit, the same is allowed and the matter is taken up for hearing today itself.

Main case Prayer is for grant of regular bail in case FIR No.167 dated 15.10.2020 under Sections 406,420,465,468,471 IPC registered at Police Station Baghapurana, District Moga.

Allegatiions against the petitioner are that he had received Rs.21 lacs from the complainant with a promise to send him and his wife to USA. However, neither the complainant was sent abroad nor has the money been returned.

Crl.M.No.32043 of 2021 in CRM-M-6424 of 2021 (O&M) #2# since been settled between the parties. The Investigation is complete and challan has also been filed. The petitioner has been in custody since 20.12.2020.

Without commenting anything on the merits of the case and also bearing in mind the custody period coupled with the fact that the trial is not likely to be concluded in near future, in my opinion, no useful purpose will be served by detaining the petitioner behind bars any further. The petition, as such, is accepted. The petitioner Naranjan Singh is ordered to be released on bail on her furnishing bail bonds/surety bonds to the satisfaction of learned trial Court/Chief Judicial Magistrate/Duty Magistrate concerned.
