By way of the present revision petition, the petitioner/landlord seeks issuance of direction to the Rent Controller, Ludhiana to decide the rent petition bearing RP-311-2020 (Annexure P-1) in a time bound manner. 2.
On the last date of hearing i.e. on 05.02.2024, status report from the concerned Court was called.

In compliance of the said order, status report from the trial Court has been received. It has been submitted that earlier the case was being taken up through virtual mode due to Covid-19 pandemic. Lateron, when physical appearance started in the Courts, then issues were framed on 14.09.2021 and the trial commenced. Thereafter an application under Order 1 Rule 10 CPC was filed by one Deepak Bhardwaj for impleading him as a respondent in the present case. The said application remained pending consideration for over a year as counsel for the applicant did not turn up to argue the matter. Thereafter the said application was disposed of and the case is now fixed for 14.03.2024 for filing of amended head note of the HARJEET KAUR 2024.03.22 18:21 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document HIGH COURT CHANDIGARH

Perusal of the record reveals that this petition had been filed before the Rent Controller, Ludhiana on 23.09.1990. The written statement in the case was filed only on 19.02.2021. Thereafter the issues were framed on 14.09.2021. Then on 19.10.2021, an application under Order 1 Rule 10 CPC was filed for impleading one Deepak Bhardwaj as respondent No.2 and the said application took more than 2 years for disposal of the same. It is an old rent petition and even after more than 3 years, it is still at the initial stage and recording of the evidence is yet to commence. 5.
Keeping in view the above, the present revision petition is disposed of with a direction to the trial Court to decide the said petition expeditiously in accordance with law preferably within a period of eight months from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 6.
Disposed of in the aforesaid terms.
