**** ANUPINDER SINGH GREWAL, J. (ORAL) The petitioner is seeking a direction to the respondents to grant him parole for a period of 08 weeks.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner has undergone an actual sentence of over 04 years. It is alleged that recovery of 70 kgs of poppy husk has been effected from the petitioner. The petitioner has also been convicted in another case under the NDPS Act. He has undergone total sentence of over 08 years in both the cases. She further submits that the petitioner will be preferring a fresh application before the competent authority for his release on parole which may be considered and decided by the competent authority in accordance with law. At this juncture, learned counsel for the petitioner submits that she may be permitted to withdraw this petition with liberty to file an application to release the petitioner on parole before the competent authority.

The petition is disposed of with liberty to the petitioner to file an application before the competent authority for his release on parole. In the event of the petitioner preferring an application for his release on parole, the same would be considered and decided by the competent authority expeditiously in accordance with law.
