The petitioner through instant petition under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India is seeking direction to respondent not to compel him to cut his beard. He is also seeking direction to authorities to provide him with religious books in Hindi language along with blank papers to practice his religion.

The petitioner is serving sentence in Central Jail, Bhondsi, Gurugram due to conviction by learned trial Court in FIR No. 1108 dated 18.12.2006 under sections 148, 149, 353, 307, 302 IPC at PS Sadar, Gurugram.

He during his incarceration underwent religious transformation and adopted Sikhism as Sehaj Dhari Sikh. The jail authorities despite his faith are forcing him to shave his head as well as his beard. He filed representation dated 28.11.2025 to Superintendent Central Jail, Bhondsi, Gurugram but the jail authorities still have forcefully shaved his head and trimmed his beard. Learned State counsel submits that petitioner is not confined in Bhondsi Jail whereas he is confined in Patiala Jail. He is involved in 72 criminal cases. The authorities have always acted upon as per Jail Manual. He was never treated by Jail Authorities as alleged. 4.

In wake of statement of learned State counsel no order is warranted.
