The present petition has been filed for issuance of appropriate directions to respondent No. 2 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners and further to comply with the provisions of Section 160 Cr.P.C. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that the controversy involved in the present petition in brief is that son of petitioners No. 1 & 2 namely Gurpreet Singh was declared as a proclaimed person in an FIR in which he was involved/found with an empty syringe and the other co-accused Gurwinder Singh and Salim Mohd. in the said FIR were convicted for 17 days and 7 days respectively, however, Gurpreet Singh (son of the petitioners No. 1 & 2) left the company of the petitioners and also absented himself from the process of law due to which he was declared a proclaimed person vide order dated 27.04.2023. 2024:PHHC:016562 CRWP-952-2024 -2petitioner No. 2 deposited a sum of Rs. 10,000/-, which was a surety amount which had been forfeited, however, it is submitted that on 17.05.2023, Gurpreet Singh has been disowned by the petitioners and the respondent-authorities are harassing the petitioners to find their son. The prayer in the present petition is that the petitioners should not be harassed and the police authorities should comply with the provisions of Section 160 Cr.P.C.

Learned State counsel has filed the status report by way of an affidavit of Mr. Mohit Kumar Singla, PPS, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Additional) Sub-Division Bassi Pathana, District Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab along with the report, which is taken on record and has submitted that the representation dated 27.01.2024 (Annexure P-5) mentioned in the present petition was never received by the authorities and secondly in para 8 of the status report, it is assured to this Court that the petitioners should not be harassed by the local police and it is also assured that, in case, the petitioners are found in any criminal activity, they shall be issued appropriate notice and due process of law shall be followed. 4.

In light of the status report filed by the learned State counsel, the present petition stands disposed of in the same terms.
