Petitioners are praying for direction to respondents No. 2 and 3 to provide protection to their life and liberty from the hands of private respondents No.4 and 5.

In the petition, it has been stated that both the petitioners are into live-in-relationship which has been opposed by private respondents No.4 and 5 who are related to petitioner No.1. 3.
Counsel for the petitioners submits that petitioner No.2Paras aged about 20 years is unmarried while petitioner No.1-Rajni aged about 33 years is a divorcee and after her divorce, petitioner No.1 started into live-in-relationship with petitioner No.2, which is objected by respondents No.4 and 5 who are members of family of petitioner No.1. That respondents No.4 and 5 are extending threats to the petitioners and in this regard they gave representation dated 24.01.2024 (Annexure P-3) to respondent No.2 but the police authorities failed to take any action on the basis of the said representation. Counsel for the petitioners further submits that he will be satisfied if necessary direction is given to Priyanka Thakur 2024.02.06 17:29 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document respondent No.2 to do the needful, in accordance with law.

Mr. Jaspal Singh Guru, AAG, Punjab appearing for the official respondents submits that in case any such representation is pending, the concerned authority will look into the matter and take action in accordance with law.

In view of above, without going into the merits of the case, this petition is hereby disposed of with direction to Senior Superintendent of Police, Ferozepur to consider representation dated 24.01.2024 (Annexure P-3) within two months from the date of receipt of certified copy of this order and to take action if so warranted in accordance with law in case there is any threat perception to the petitioners. 6.
However, any observations made in this order will not be construed as an expression of opinion on the validity of the relationship of the petitioners. It is also made clear that respondents No. 4 and 5 are at liberty to avail appropriate remedy available to them under law against the petitioners. In case the petitioners have committed any offence, law will take its own course.
