**** MANJARI NEHRU KAUL, J. (Oral) Prayer in the instant petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, is for issuance of directions to respondents No.2 and 3, to provide protection of life and liberty to the petitioners at the hands of respondents No.4 to 6.

It has been pleaded and submitted that due to some untoward instances and criminal nature of respondent No.4 (husband of petitioner No.1), petitioner No.1 left her matrimonial home and started living with petitioner No.2. The private respondents have thereafter been threatening the petitioners with dire consequences, as a result, the petitioners approached respondent No.2 i.e. Superintendent of Police, District Fatehabad, vide representation dated 08.02..2021 (Annexure P-3), seeking protection of their life and liberty, but in vain.

On the asking of the Court, Ms. Tanushree Gupta, DAG, Haryana, who is appearing through video conferencing, accepts notice on behalf of the State.

Keeping in view the facts and circumstances of the case, the

CRWP-1435-2021 - 2 - present petition is disposed off with a direction to respondent No.2 - Superintendent of Police, District Fatehabad, to look into the representation dated 08th February, 2021 (Annexure P-3) qua the alleged threat perception, and take necessary steps, if any required, in accordance with law, to ensure that the life and liberty of the petitioners is not jeopardized at the hands of the private respondents. However, it is clarified that this order will have no effect on any civil or criminal action, which could be initiated in the matter, nor would it be taken to be a stamp of this Court qua the legitimacy or otherwise of the relationship between the petitioners.
