Through this petition under Articles 226 and 227 of the Constitution of India prayer has been made for direction to respondents No.1 to 3 to protect the life and liberty of petitioners at the hands of respondents No.4 to 12.

Learned State counsel filing reply by way of affidavit of Harjeet Singh, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police, Fazilka, submits that petitioners did not ever approach the police authorities for providing them adequate police protection to their life and liberty. Since whereabouts of the petitioners are not known, therefore, respondents are unable to provide protection to them.
