Mr. Varun Dhawan, Advocate for the petitioner Mr. Sanjeev Soni, Addl. A.G. Punjab *** Raj Mohan Singh, J . (Oral) The grievance of the petitioner is that the tenure of the Gram Panchyat has already expired on 05.08.2022 but no election schedule has been published till date. On 19.07.2023, respondent No. 2 was directed to file a specific affidavit to show cause as to why appropriate action be not taken for the inaction of the official machinery showing deviation from its statutory function. Today, Ms. Ramanpreet, Legal Assistant is present with a notification dated 10.08.2023, vide which the general election of the Gram Panchayats are notified to be conducted before 31.12.2023. In view of the aforesaid notification, grievance of the petitioner stands redressed.

Mr. Sanjeev Soni, Addl. A.G. Punjab on instructions submits that due to unavoidable circumstances necessary compliance of the order dated 19.07.2023 could not be made and the Assistant Director, Rural Development & Panchayat, Punjab has incorporated his unconditional apology in the affidavit which could not be vetted in time. Since the grievance of the petitioner stands redressed, we do not consider to adjourn the case further for the compliance of order dated REENA 2023.08.16 10:58 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this order/ judgment Chandigarh
