HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE GURVINDER SINGH GILL Present:- Ms. Neha Shukla, Advocate, for the petitioners. (Proceedings conducted through video conferencing) ***** GURVINDER SINGH GILL, J . (Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking issuance of a direction to respondents No.2 and 3 so as to protect their life and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.3 and 4. As per case of petitioners, petitioner No.1-Kiranpal Kaur was married to respondent No.4-Rishi Pal Singh in the year 2007. However, respondent No.4 turned out to be an addict and used to maltreat petitioner No.1 and did not look after her or their child. It is the case of the petitioners that although several Panchayats were convened so as to reason out with respondent No.4 but to no avail. Even the parents of petitioner No.1 refused to come to the aid of petitioner No.1. Petitioner No.1, therefore took refuge in a friend's house i.s. in the house of petitioner No.2 about 15 days back and ever since has been living there in a live-in relationship out of their free will.

- 2 - CRWP-1513-2021 (O&M) Learned counsel for the petitioners has submitted that on account of the aforesaid live-in relationship with petitioner No.2, respondent No.4-Rishi Pal Singh has been threatening them of dire consequences. Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and while refraining from making any expression as regards the averments made in the petition or as regards the sanctity of their relationship, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 i.e. Senior Superintendent of Police, District Mansa, to look into the matter and to dispose of the representation dated 1.2.2021 (Annexure P-1) in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is a genuine threat to the lives and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of respondents No.3 and 4, then necessary steps warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners.

A copy of this order alongwith copy of the representation dated 1.2.2021 be sent to Senior Superintendent of Police, District Mansa (respondent No.2), so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously. It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order shall not confer any immunity upon the petitioners, in case it is found that they have committed any wrong.
