This is a criminal writ petition under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of directions to respondent Nos.1 to 3 to protect the life and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of respondent Nos.4 and 5.

Learned counsel for the petitioners would contend that both the petitioners are major and have solemnized their marriage at Gurudwara Dashmesh Pita Patsahi Dasvi (Regd.) on 10.02.2022 as per Sikh rites and ceremonies. It has further been contended that since the marriage has been performed against the wishes of respondent Nos.4 and 5, who are father and mother of petitioner No.1-Harpreet Kaur, the petitioners are receiving threats to their life and liberty. In this regard, representation dated 10.02.2022 (Annexure P-4) is also stated to have been given to the Senior PARKASH CHAND 2022.02.16 10:25 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document

CRWP No.1378 of 2022 -2Superintendent of Police, New Court Complex, Kartarpur Road, Kapurthala (respondent No.2). However, no action has been taken qua the same. The learned counsel has further stated that this is the first marriage of both the petitioners and they do not fall under the category of prohibited relationship. Notice of motion.

On the asking of the Court, Mr. H.S. Multani, AAG Punjab has joined the session through video conferencing (VC) and accepts notice on behalf of respondent Nos.1 to 3. Mr. Mohan Singh Chauhan, Advocate has also put in appearance through VC and has accepted notice on behalf of the private respondent Nos.4 and 5.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the private respondents has stated that respondent Nos.4 and 5 have no objection to the marriage of the petitioners and that they are not extending any threat to the petitioners. He further states that the parents of petitioner No.1 would infact like to bless the newly wedded couple.

In view of the statement made by the learned counsel appearing on behalf of respondent Nos.4 and 5, learned counsel for the petitioners does not wish to press the present petition at this stage. Accordingly, the petition is dismissed as not pressed at this stage.
