The petitioners pray for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus to direct the respondents to release the amount of contributory provident fund (contribution made by the petitioners) along with interest, in terms of the judgment passed in Subash Chand v. State of Punjab and Others (Civil Writ Petition No. 29907 of 2018, decided on 14.01.2019) and other connected cases.

On 15.02.2022, the learned State counsel was requested to examine the matter and assist the court.

Mr. Nikhil Chopra, Additional Advocate General, Punjab, has informed the Bench that the matter is under serious consideration of the State Government and the decision is likely to be taken within a period of six weeks.

Keeping in with the aforesaid facts and without commenting on
Civil Writ Petition No. 2898 of 2022 merits of the case, the present writ petition is disposed of by requesting the the State Government to decide the claim of the petitioners, finally, within a period of eight weeks, from today.
