Petitioners have prayed for a writ in the nature of mandamus to direct respondents to pay the higher pay-scale/additional increment for performing the duties of higher post as per Punjab Civil Services Rules. According to learned counsel, petitioners have served a legal notice, Annexure P-10 on respondents no. 1 & 2.

On the asking of court, Ms. Anu Chatrath, Addl. A.G. Punjab, who is present in court, accepts notice on behalf of official respondents. She submits that decision on legal notice shall be taken by the competent authority within two months.
