(ORAL) Through this petition under Section 438 Cr.P.C., prayer has been made for grant of pre-arrest bail to the petitioner in case FIR No. 206 dated 11.08.2018 registered under Sections 420 and 406 IPC at Police Station Patran, District Patiala.

According to the prosecution, the petitioner cheated complainant-Gurdeep Singh, for a sum of `6,50,000/- on the false pretext of getting him employed in Punjab Police. Neither the petitioner got appointed the complainant in Punjab Police, nor he returned the amount. Learned counsel inter alia contends that during investigation, it was found that out of `6,50,000/-, the petitioner had returned `3,50,000/- to the complainant. Therefore, no question arises for issuance of cheque qua alleged cheated amount of `6,50,000/-. Considering the seriousness of the allegations levelled against the petitioner, but without commenting on the merits of the case, this Court is of the considered opinion that the petitioner does not deserve RISHU KATARIA 2019.02.12 17:00 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document

CRM-M-5106-2019 -2the concession of anticipatory bail, because his custodial interrogation is definitely required, as it is a case of cheating and defrauding the innocent public. It is needless to mention here that such type of crimes have increased manifold in the recent past.
