(ORAL) By way of the instant petition, the petitioner seeks the indulgence of this Court for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus directing respondents No.1 to 4 to register his marriage with respondent No.5 by way of video-conferencing as respondent No.5-wife is presently residing in Australia.

Mr. B.S. Khehar, Advocate, has joined the proceedings on behalf of respondent No.2 in pursuance of the copy of this petition having been sent to the respondents-UT, Chandigarh in advance. Heard.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner had already moved a representation dated 28.01.2021 (Annexure P-3) to the Registrar of Marriages, i.e. respondent No.2-Deputy Commissioner, UT, Chandigarh with the same prayer as made in this petition but this SEEMA SHARMA 2021.02.17 15:48 I attest to the accuracy and integrity of this document High Court, Chandigarh

representation has not yet been decided and the petitioner would be satisfied if a direction is issued to respondent No.2 to consider and decide his aforesaid representation in a time bound manner. Learned counsel for respondent No.2 has no objection for the same.

Keeping in view the afore-mentioned limited prayer of learned counsel for the petitioner and without commenting upon the merits of the matter in hand, the present writ petition is hereby disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2-Deputy Commissioner, UT, Chandigarh, to look into the said representation of the petitioner dated 28.01.2021 (Annexure P-3) and to decide/deal with the same in accordance with law and the prescribed rules, within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of the certified copy of this order.
