(Oral) Both the aforesaid appeals have been filed by the appellants namely Surjit Kaur, Amandeep Kaur and Jaspal Singh challenging the judgment dated 03.02.2017 passed by the Additional Sessions Judge, S.A.S. Nagar, Mohali, vide which the Lower Appellate Court had released the respondent/accused on probation in terms of Section 4(1) of the Probation of Offenders Act, for a period of 06 MOHD YAKUB 2018.09.18 16:41 I attest to the accuracy and authenticity of this document High Court, Chandigarh

CRA-S No.2050-SB of 2017 (O&M) and CRA-S No.2049-SB of 2017 (O&M) months on furnishing probation bonds in a sum of Rs.20,000/- with one surety in the like amount and while upholding the conviction of the appellants Ajit Singh, Gurjit Singh, Sarprasht Singh and Harjinder Singh, the sentence awarded by the trial Court i.e. rigorous imprisonment for a period of 03 years along with fine of Rs.1500/- each was modified.

During the course of arguments, counsel for the appellants has submitted that if the respondents/accused are ready to pay an amount of Rs.20,000/- each, to the injured persons namely Surjit Kaur, Amandeep Kaur and Jaspal Singh, he has no objection if both these appeals are disposed of.

Counsel for respondents No.1 and 2 have handed over 03 demand drafts dated 12.09.2018 for a sum of Rs.20,000/- favouring the victims/appellants, which have been accepted by counsel for the appellants in the Court as full and final settlement. A photocopy of the demand drafts dated 12.09.2018 is taken on record as Mark 'A'.

Accordingly, counsel for the appellants has submitted that both these appeals filed by the complainants be disposed of having been rendered infructuous.
