H. S. Madaan, J. (Oral) This criminal writ petition, under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of writ, has been filed by petitioner no.1 - Naina, aged about 22 years and petitioner No.2 - Baljeet Singh, aged about 22 years, stating that they have contracted marriage against the wishes of family members of petitioner no.1, i.e. father - Sher Singh, mother - Rekha Rani, brother - Happy, Mohan Singh - Sarpanch, Tony -Sarpanch and Bhinda - Lambardar, arrayed as respondents No. 4 to 9, who are threatening to interfere in their marital life, as such to seek protection in that regard, they have approached this Court by way of filing the present petition. CRWP No. 1689 of 2021 -2motion was issued to the official respondents. Learned State counsel accepted the notice on their behalf and sought some time to verify the facts and existence of such threat.

Today, learned State counsel, on instructions from ASI Balbir Singh, has informed that the local police had recorded statement of parents of petitioner no.1 - Naina, i.e. father - Sher Singh and mother - Rekha Rani, who had stated that they have no objection to the marriage between the petitioners, as a matter of fact they will not interfere in their marital life. Confronted with this situation, learned counsel for the petitioners states that he be permitted to withdraw the present petition. Allowed.

Dismissed as withdrawn.

It is observed that in case petitioners feel any apprehension with regard to their lives and liberty at the hands of private respondents No. 4 to 9 or any other person claiming under them, then they may approach Senior Superintendent of Police, Patiala, in that regard, who would then assess threat perception to the petitioners and then take necessary action so warranted as per law.
