Prayer made in the present petition is for directing the respondents to consider the candidature of the petitioners under 'Ex-serviceman (Self)' instead of 'Ex-serviceman (Dependent)', with regard to which representations dated 14.09.2024, 04.10.2024, 09.10.2024 and 14.06.2024, Annexure P-12, have been submitted, but the same have yet not evoked any response.Learned counsel for the petitioners relies upon a judgment of this Court passed in CWP-23221 of 2024, titled Jaskarn Singh and others versus State of Punjab and others, decided on 01.10.2024.

The aforesaid facts having been brought out, during the course of hearing, learned State counsel, on instructions, states that the respondents would not be averse to have a relook at the matter and decided afresh within a period of 04 months, taking note of the aforesaid judgment, which this Court has no reason to believe the authorities would not address in a just, fair and reasonable manner. 3.

The matter stands disposed of accordingly with a direction to the respondent to reconsider and decide the claim of the petitioners within a period of four months in the light of the aforesaid judgment and if the petitioners are found entitled, grant the benefit forthwith. Needless to say, if the orders are adverse to their interest, the same may be passed after granting opportunity of hearing to them and shall contain reasons, whereupon they shall be free to seek legal redress thereupon.
