Learned senior counsel representing the petitioners submits that in view of judgment dated 20.02.2024 passed by the Hon'ble Supreme Court in Civil Appeal No.2874 of 2024, as regards the election to the post of Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh, the present writ petition has been rendered infructuous as the elections to the post of Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh are required to be presided over by the elected Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. However, learned senior counsel for the petitioners further submits that he may be permitted to withdraw the instant writ petition with liberty to challenge the subsequent notification, if any, issued for holding the elections to the post of Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.

Keeping in view the aforesaid submissions made by learned senior counsel for the petitioners, the present writ petition is disposed of as withdrawn with the liberty aforesaid.
