HON'BLE MR. JUSTICE GURVINDER SINGH GILL Present:- Mr. Paras Jagga, Advocate, for the petitioners. (Proceedings conducted through video conferencing) ***** GURVINDER SINGH GILL, J . (Oral) The petitioners have approached this Court seeking issuance of a direction to official respondents to protect their life and liberty as they apprehend threat to the same at the hands of respondents No.4 to 6. It has been submitted that respondent No.4 who is father of petitioner No.1 tried to pressurize the petitioner to get married to a person who is related to them though he happens to be a drunkard and is also addicted to intoxicants. Although petitioner No.1 objected to the same but her family insisted upon petitioner No.1 to gave her consent for marriage. It is further alleged that in fact the private respondents even tried to eliminate her.

Finding no way out, the petitioner No.1 asked her friends to give her shelter and it is petitioner No.2 who came to her rescue and she is presently residing with petitioner No.2. It is alleged that the private respondents are MOHAN SINGH 2021.02.

- 2 - CRWP-1694-2021 (O&M) however, bent upon causing harm to petitioner No.1 as well as petitioner No.2 who is taking care of petitioner No.1.

Having heard the learned counsel for the petitioners and while refraining from making any expression as regards the veracity of the averments made in the petition, the petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.2 i.e. Senior Superintendent of Police, Mansa, to look into the matter and to dispose of the representation dated 14.2.2021 (Annexure P3) in accordance with law. In case, it is found that there is a genuine threat to the lives and liberty of the petitioners at the hands of respondents No.4 to 6, then necessary steps warranted under law be taken thereupon at the earliest so as to ensure that no harm is caused to the petitioners. A copy of this order alongwith copy of the representation dated 14.2.2021 be sent to Senior Superintendent of Police, Mansa (respondent No.2), so as to enable him to do the needful expeditiously. It is, however, clarified that the aforesaid order shall not confer any immunity upon the petitioners, in case it is found that they have committed any wrong.
