The present civil writ petition has been filed under Articles 226/227 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a writ in the nature of mandamus or such other appropriate writ, order or directions to the respondent Nos 1 to 3 to consider and allow the case of the petitioner for promotion as per Government of Punjab Policy/Rules. 2.

Learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner, who was appointed on the post of Angangwari Helper on 23.12.2009, was entitled for promotion being older in age against the post which fell vacant, as one of her colleague holding it, expired on 20.03.2022 but instead one Sukhpreet Kaur younger to the petitioner, was granted the same, in clear violation of Punjab Government Policy (Annexure P-7). In wake of the above, a legal notice (Annexure P-5) and a notice under Section 80 of CPC (Annexure P-3) have been served upon the respondents.
